Mechanic of the day: Spellcatch Parry

Controls: Mage A blink, S bolt, D ward. Fighter J dash, K slash, L parry.

Rules: Fighter parry has 9 active frames. Perfect parry catches one bolt, stores it in the blade for 2 seconds, then the next slash releases a short-range arcane wave. Mage can feint-cast to bait early parries.

Win condition: First to 3 stocks, 45-second rounds; timeout awards the lead to space-control score: center time + successful approaches.

What to test today
  • Does the fighter feel brave but not invincible crossing projectile space?
  • Can spectators read “stored spell” in one glance?
  • Is mage feinting fun, or does it slow the duel too much?
